What a Year So Far…. - Oct 27

I feel like I have thrown batting practice everyday of 2009! From a showcase event in January to the open week of the Florida Winter Baseball League, and oh yea, mix in early camp, spring training, 140 game season and instructional league in between, that is a lot of BP! It has been and continues to be a very rewarding year. I have seen multiple players improve in 2009 and am starting to see more during the “spring training” of the Seminole County Naturals of the FWBL. We open up on Friday night in Miami and I think we will have a solid club. We played our first intersquad game yesterday after a week of practice and these guys can swing the bats! Our pitching was OK, the hitters are a little ahead of the pitchers right now, but we have been taking a ton of BP and the pitchers can only throw so much. It takes time to build them up. Our defense looks ok, nothing spectacular, but we can make the plays. I like our chances in the league this winter, even though I haven’t seen any of the other teams! The make up of our players seems to be solid so far, but, you only tell so much about player’s ability and make up during practice. When the lights come on, that is when we will see who is who. My left arm seems to still be attached, at least for today. Baseball Pros has hit a couple hiccups, having to cancel a youth camp and the Combine at Tiger Town. The economy has definitely affected discretionary income for many of us. So, we are working hard on some camp and combine models that will be more affordable to all of you. Got to go for now. The ice is melting down my arm as I type. Until next time….
